Jackson Hole & The Grand Tetons

I’ve visited quite a few mountain towns over the years. For me, Jackson Hole & The Grand Tetons remains one of my absolute favorite places to spend time especially when a trip to Jackson Hole includes bikes! It’s been a while since I’ve gone on a road bike-specific trip as I’ve spent more time on the mountain bike over the last few years. Riding Jackson Hole & Grand Teton National Park is still one the best rides I’ve done. The roads are nice (there are paths if you don’t want to ride the road), the views are absolutely epic and you just feel like you’re IN nature.

The Route

I’ve started this Jackson Hole / GTNP loop from a few different places – downtown Jackson Hole, Wilson and Teton Village. This time we started at Teton Village and headed north right into GTNP. The miles work out to about the same +/- 5 or 6 miles.

Our route did include 8-9 miles of gravel, so if you follow this route be ready for a little off-road riding. I rode it on my Madone road bike and survived, but I would have much rather been on a gravel bike or even just had some 32mm tires instead of 28s.

The Tetons were covered for most of the day, but the views were still pretty.

Day 2

For our second day of riding, we got into some gravel… again. We started out from Wilson, Wy., just outside of Jackson Hole. Peter had put a route together that included 8-9 miles or so of gravel and made a nice loop from Wilson over to Hoback and back through Jackson Hole to Wilson. It was really a great route! The gravel was relatively smooth and not too choppy, the road was quiet and we didn’t see much traffic. And, of course, it was really scenic.
